Premium Quality Vintage Willys Jeep Parts – Royal Choppers
In
November 1940, about a year before the United States entered World War II, the
Jeep mythology began. The Willys "Quad," a compact four-wheel-drive
prototype, was supplied to the US Army. It included a Willys
"Go-Devil" engine manufactured by Delmar's "Barney" Roos.
With 60 horsepower and 105 pound-feet of torque, it not only met the Army's
requirements, but significantly outperformed its only opponents for the
military contract, the Bantam 83 and Ford 85 pound-feet of torque. The Quad was
the forefather of the Jeep models MB, CJ, and Wrangler. Willys upgraded the
Quad and built 1,500 Willys MA type vehicles, many of which were utilised
during WWII.
